Unsung Hero: Candace Newmeyer
Meet Candace!
Candace Newmeyer is one of Memorial Regional Health’s dedicated family practice nurses, working behind the scenes to ensure patients receive compassionate and coordinated care. In her role, she is deeply involved in patient intake, education, care coordination, and problem-solving, bringing a calm and thoughtful approach to each interaction.
Candace’s impact goes beyond the technical aspects of nursing. Her colleague highlights her ability to foster a collaborative environment. “She is someone everyone can count on, not just to get the job done, but to do it with grace, humility, and professionalism. Candace truly embodies the spirit of nursing, and her quiet leadership has a profound impact on the entire team. It is time to recognize and celebrate her contributions that often go unnoticed but are deeply appreciated by all,” they shared.
Candace’s journey into healthcare stems from her lifelong fascination with science and the human body, combined with a deep desire to help those in need. “Healthcare seemed to be the best of both worlds,” she shares. “As nurses, we can always change departments to see different aspects of healthcare. Society will continue to improve modern medicine and increase our knowledge, which is fascinating, but the thing I love most is that the need for human compassion will never change.”
Before joining MRH nearly two years ago, Candace worked on a Medical-Surgical floor in Wyoming. Since moving to Craig in 2022, she has found a supportive and collaborative environment at MRH.
Candace moved to Craig with her boyfriend, a Craig native. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends, attending concerts, camping, hiking, and fishing. An active churchgoer, she enjoys volunteering in the community, inspired by her church’s mission to serve others. Her passion for new experiences and learning keeps her engaged and growing both personally and professionally.
Though she now enjoys lifting weights recreationally, many might not know that Candace used to be a competitive powerlifter! Her strength and determination are evident not only in her hobbies but also in the way she approaches her work—steadfast, with a heart full of compassion.
Candace, we thank you for your leadership and grace that you bring to the workplace each and every day.
