Unsung Hero: Brayden Moya

Meet Brayden!

Brayden Moya is a registered nurse in the General Surgery Department. He’s been a key member of the MRH team for 10 years.

“I work primarily as a scrub nurse,” Brayden explained. “My role includes preparing the OR, assisting the surgeon, tracking supplies, managing sterile instruments, and ensuring the environment stays sterile.”

At MRH, many general surgeries are planned, but some are needed suddenly. And so on a typical day, you’ll find Brayden helping out wherever the need arises. “Every day is different,” he said. “Some days go exactly as planned and we finish early, and other days are filled with back-to-back emergencies that turn into long, unpredictable shifts. You learn to roll with whatever comes through the doors.”

What Brayden loves most about his job are the people he works with. “What stands out the most is the teamwork,” he said. “No matter how busy or stressful things get, there is always someone willing to step in and help.” And in return, Brayden’s coworkers recognize his contribution to team success. “Brayden is always willing to lend a helping hand,” said the colleague who nominated him as Unsung Hero. “He steps up whenever his coworkers need an extra hand, even at the end of his shift, but also is willing to attend work activities outside of his normal scheduled shifts.”

A Craig native, Brayden is a proud fourth-generation Coloradan. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, camping, fishing, “and just about anything nerdy.” He supports suicide prevention efforts. And he comes from a big family. He’s number four in a lineup of eight children. Two of his older siblings are nurses, and he credits their experiences and encouragement with his decision to pursue a nursing career.

Before MRH, Brayden worked at Sandrock Ridge, and before that, he worked in construction—a trade he still dabbles in on the side. “I take on odd jobs when I have time,” he said.

Brayden, you are a credit to nursing in general and surgical nursing in particular. You make consistently high-quality, valuable contributions to your department, team, and patients every time you come to work. We recognize and thank you for all your efforts.
