Unsung Hero: Anna Simpson
Infusion Coordinator
Meet Anna!
In the heart of Memorial Regional Health (MRH), there’s a remarkable individual whose philosophy is as inspiring as her work. Anna Simpson, an Infusion Coordinator at MRH, once shared, “I have always felt if you see someone without a smile, give them yours, and I give others empathy, love, and support because I have known despair.” This sentiment perfectly sums up the warmth and dedication Anna brings to her role, making her a true Unsung Hero in the Chemotherapy and Infusion area.
Her role at MRH is multifaceted and vital. Handling everything from prior authorizations for treatments to managing patient check-ins, Anna does it all with an exceptional level of care and attention. She even remembers each patient’s individual food preferences, adding a personal touch that transforms a clinical setting into a place of comfort and care.
Anna’s path to MRH is as inspiring as her work. Her personal journey includes overcoming the challenges of domestic violence, an experience that has endowed her with a profound empathy for others facing similar struggles. Her resilience and strength are not just personal victories but also sources of inspiration and support for those around her.
Originally from Florida, Anna’s life has been nothing short of adventurous. Prior to settling in Craig, she spent three years in Southeast Colorado in Fort Garland, where she lived at the base of a mountain, relying solely on solar power, hauling wood and water, and working remotely. After 12 years away, her grandbaby and adult children drew her back to the Western Slope. Before this period, she contributed over 5 years as a Certified Coder at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat.
At MRH, Anna finds joy in the daily tasks of her role. She loves being part of the community and feels a deep satisfaction in serving those around her. This sense of community and care is what Anna believes makes MRH a special place to work.
For Anna, the Infusion area, where she spends her days, is not just about medical treatments. For her, it’s about the compassion and empathy that each nurse brings to their patients. Anna is proud to be part of a team that consistently goes above and beyond in patient care.
Anna’s appreciation for her workplace is further enriched by her relationship with her boss, Maria Montoya. Maria’s supportive and inspiring leadership style has had a profound impact on Anna, making her feel valued and motivated in her role.
Away from the hospital, Anna’s life is full of hobbies and interests that speak to her vibrant personality. Whether it’s cooking up a southern storm in the kitchen, knitting, or exploring nature as a rock collector, Anna embraces life with open arms. These hobbies reflect her love for life’s simple pleasures and her ability to find joy in every moment.
Grounded in her Christian faith, Anna grew up in a ministry environment, which instilled in her a deep sense of service and compassion. Her faith continues to be a cornerstone of her life, guiding her in her daily interactions and strengthening her resolve to help others.
Anna’s presence at MRH is more than just a professional contribution; it’s a beacon of hope, care, and compassion. Her story is a beautiful blend of personal strength, professional dedication, and a deep-rooted desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those she serves. Anna you are a shining example of an Unsung Hero – thank you for all you do!
