Unsung Hero: Sarah Taylor

Meet Sarah!

As an Environmental Services Technician, Sarah helps keep MRH facilities clean and sanitary, providing a safe environment for staff and patients. She is part of an EVS team that cares for not only the main hospital and clinic but also the standalone facilities, such as Rapid Care and the Specialty Clinic.

On a typical day, she helps prepare the carts with all needed chemicals and supplies. She responds to work orders for patient discharges or other sanitary needs, continuously communicating with hospital staff to ensure all areas are cleaned and ready to go.

“I have been a housekeeper for most of my life,” Sarah said. “I have enjoyed working with the people on our team. We all are vibrant and hardworking. I enjoy the environment along with the ones I share the workspace with.”

“She is always jumping in to help when the team is short,” said the colleague who nominated Sarah as Unsung Hero. “She displays commitment to our EVS team, and I always get such sweet comments about her from the MOB2 staff.”

“I remember cleaning an elderly patient’s room, and he had asked me to please be gentle with his toilet,” Sarah said, “and seeing him smile and sharing a laugh with him is one of my fondest memories of cleaning our Med-Surg department.”

Born and raised in Kent, Washington, Sarah moved to Craig at age 14 to be near her mom, who is a Craig native, and her grandmother and other family members on her mom’s side, and to experience small-town living. The rest of her family still lives in Washington State.

Sarah is a proud single mother to two little boys, Kaine and Oliver. They have four cats. Outside of work, she enjoys being with her sons, listening to music, playing video games, drawing tattoos, and going on walks.

Sarah supports the LGBTQ+ community, causes against racial hate, support groups for single parents and domestic abuse survivors, causes for women’s rights, health, and wellbeing. “Mental health is very important to me, so I am always someone with a shoulder and open
arms for others to talk to in their time of need,” she said.

Thank you, Sarah, for your hard, careful work. You do so much to keep the MRH community healthy and safe. We appreciate you, and we’re delighted to present you with this honor.
