Meet Jasmin!
Jasmin Resendiz may be a recent graduate of the nursing program of Colorado Northwestern Community College, but she’s known she wanted to be a nurse for a long time.
“Nursing was a profession I sought after since I can remember,” she said. “It was when a family member went through the process of being hospitalized that I was able to see what a nurse’s true role was. These nurses provided care for my family member but also for our family. They prepared us for what was going to happen and supported every decision we made. These interactions made me want to be a part of this profession even more.”
Jasmin works in the Memorial Regional Health Specialty Clinic in Craig, where family medicine physician Dr. Larry Kipe provides primary care to people of all ages.
“Nursing is about making meaningful differences in patients’ lives, even if it’s by simply being present and listening,” she said. “That’s what I love most about being a clinic nurse—getting to know your patients and recognizing when they are not their normal selves. I am eager to see where this career takes me.” Jasmin hopes to further her education in the future and pursue a career as a midwife.
“Jasmin’s energy to learn and grow is exciting,” said the colleague who nominated her as Unsung Hero.
Outside of work, Jasmin enjoys spending time with her daughters, Olivia and Violetta. “I try to soak up as much time with them as I can, now that I have finished nursing school,” she said.
Jasmin was raised in New Mexico and came to Craig five years ago to play soccer in college. “I don’t think I will ever get used to the weather,” she said. “It’s a hate-love relationship with the winters here. But I have grown to love Craig and our community. There is so much more to small towns like Craig, and I am grateful to have gotten the opportunity to move here.”
Jasmin still plays soccer and likes to snowboard. “Snowboarding has turned into one of my favorite hobbies because of my husband, even if I am not very good,” she said.
We’re so glad to have your skills, compassion, and energy at MRH, Jasmin. The Specialty Clinic patients appreciate you, and we appreciate you. Thank you for everything you do. For your sake, we hope this coming winter is a gentle one.
