Unsung Hero: James Williams

Meet James!

As our Senior Network Engineer, James Williams works diligently behind the scenes to keep MRH safe.

An Essential Force in Cybersecurity
James plays a vital role in protecting MRH’s cybersecurity. His colleague shared, “James has been with MRH for 6 years and has implemented so many Cybersecurity features to help keep MRH safe. James was instrumental in onboarding Arctic Wolf and continues to play a key role in ensuring that all network devices are secure.”

Beyond the technical realm, he’s known for his willingness to help. Whether it’s dropping what he’s doing to assist a colleague or providing 24/7 IT support, James is always ready to lend a hand. He also enjoys learning new tools and keeping our hospital secure in today’s ever-changing tech world.

A Journey to Healthcare IT
Before his career in IT, James was a chef for 15 years, traveling the world after graduating from the Culinary Institute of America in Denver. As he transitioned into family life, James sought a more stable career and found his calling in IT, earning his degree in Computer Science. The opportunity at MRH appealed to him as he wanted to be part of a smaller, close-knit community that wasn’t just about tech, but about making a real difference in healthcare.

Daily Contributions and a Love for Teamwork
At MRH, James’s day-to-day work involves answering HelpDesk calls, addressing support tickets, maintaining network security, and planning for future projects. He loves working alongside his close-knit team, continuously learning and growing together. For James, knowing that his efforts in cybersecurity protect the hospital from potential breaches and keep medical services running smoothly is deeply rewarding.

Family and Life in Craig
Raised in Littleton, Colorado, James has lived around the world before settling down in Craig. He even lived on the Big Island of Hawaii off and on for 5 years, most of that time living “off-grid” without electricity.

He and his wife Monique moved here to provide a more rural life for their family. His daughter Aliyah is following in her father’s footsteps in healthcare, working at the hospital and studying nursing at CNCC.

Outside of work, James enjoys working on his property, which he and his family are renovating. He loves spending time gardening, doing carpentry, and playing basketball. His next project is building a BBQ lean-to, where he hopes to indulge his love for cooking by prepping and smoking food. James and his family are also passionate about their community church, The Journey, where they volunteer their time to support local projects.

Supporting a Greater Cause
James is deeply proud of his wife Monique’s work with ACTSS  (formerly Open Heart Advocates), a nonprofit organization that provides crucial support to victims of crime, sexual assault, and those affected by suicide. He believes in the importance of their work and feels fortunate to have a stable job that allows him to support Monique’s mission.

A True Unsung Hero
James’s story is one of dedication, humility, and service—whether it’s safeguarding MRH’s networks or supporting his community. We’re proud to celebrate him as an Unsung Hero at MRH. Thank you, James, for all that you do to keep us safe, connected, and always moving forward!
