Unsung Hero: Cheyann Mann

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Meet Cheyann!

Each day presents a unique array of challenges for Cheyann Mann, a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist here at MRH. From collaborating with physicians to devise treatment plans for respiratory illnesses, educating patients on medication usage, to overseeing intricate respiratory equipment, her role is both diverse and demanding. Cheyann’s remarkable ability to gracefully navigate these challenges stands as a testament to her professionalism, earning her the well-deserved title of Unsung Hero.

Cheyann also shines in her ability to connect personally with her patients. Beyond clinical procedures, she lends a supportive ear and a comforting presence. For her, the most rewarding part of the job is being a source of strength for those navigating through challenging times.

Cheyann’s journey into the world of healthcare was sparked by a personal tragedy—the loss of a friend to Cystic Fibrosis. This instilled in her a profound desire to make a difference in the lives of others facing health challenges. Though she initially embarked on a nursing career, her path took a turn when caring for a patient with a tracheostomy ignited a passion for respiratory therapy.

In a demanding healthcare environment, Cheyann also finds solace in the family-like atmosphere at MRH, explaining how, “Everyone in the MRH family comes together to help in whatever situation arises, even if they don’t work in your department, they will help where they can.”

One of Cheyann’s most memorable moments is a great example of the ‘all hands-on deck’ approach she loves at MRH. During a period of heightened activity in the Emergency Department, the MRH team was busy accommodating numerous high-level care patients. Witnessing the remarkable teamwork, she recounted how several nurses and other MRH personnel joined forces to devise plans, provide patient care, and clean rooms as needed. Cheyann played a pivotal role in troubleshooting an oxygen tank issue, facilitating the smooth transfer of a patient, and actively participating in their transport. By working together, they not only averted a potential crisis but also reinforced the profound sense of unity and family among MRH staff, a sentiment Cheyann deeply appreciates as an MRH employee.

Outside her role as a respiratory therapist, Cheyann is family-oriented. Originally from South Dakota, she met her husband Scott in college. Scott, a Craig native and PE teacher in Hayden, brought them back to the close-knit community of Craig. Together, they have two boys—Korbin (8 yrs old) and Rylan (4 yrs old – 5 in March).

Cheyann’s commitment extends beyond her professional role. As a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a fraternal organization dedicated to charities and kindness, she actively participates in programs like “Assisting Children to Smile,” which provides financial support for children’s orthodontic care.

Cheyann, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude. Your story inspires us to continue appreciating Unsung Heroes like you who make a significant impact on our lives and community. Thank you for all you do!
