Meet Emily!

We are so proud to recognize our Unsung Hero: Emily Nelson, an Occupational Health Services Coordinator! Emily is involved with most things job related. From pre-employment testing designated by employers to your basic vision, hearing, and mask fit testing. She also consults employers on employee fitness screenings and schedules upcoming services.

“I’m very happy in my position.  I have the flexibility to engage in patient services. I like learning how I can accommodate and help educate patients on preventative care that is provided through our office, and get them access to our physicians. This brings joy to my job.”

Emily started this adventure with MRH in August of 2022. She spent the previous 12 years in the dental industry with many different roles from reception and billing, to lead dental assistant and phlebotomy tech in oral surgery procedures.

“Healthcare was always a part of my life and I have found many different facets to the industry.  I started with insurance billing and found that I missed talking to patients, so I moved on to dentistry. I was amazed at how the teeth can affect your total body health and enjoyed educating patients about this. As life changed so did my need to pursue different avenues of the healthcare industry and that’s when I decided to become a part of a team in a medical clinic or hospital.”

Emily moved to the Yampa Valley in 2011. She wanted to raise her children in a small town that has a close-knit community.  Her wonderful children and beautiful granddaughter (she’s a Nana – truly the best!) bring a great deal of joy to her life and she loves spending time with them.

Born in Oregon, Emily still considers that to be her home – though Colorado is a close second. Living in Colorado has given her a great appreciation for the mountains and she loves that the four seasons provide ample outdoor recreation here. She also enjoys the beach and ocean.
