Memorial Regional Health — Community Update on Demolition of 785 Russell Street Property
Memorial Regional Health (MRH) received notice on Friday, June 18, 2021, that it may now proceed forward with additional asbestos abatement required to complete the demolition at the old hospital property.
On April 7, 2021, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) halted progress in the building due to concerns regarding bulk sampling of drywall materials. This delay required additional testing before work could continue on the property. MRH may now proceed forward with final abatement and testing.
The original project was scheduled to be completed by June 1, 2021. Once the final abatement is completed and a final demolition permit is obtained from CDPHE, the building will come down. The new tentative date for completion is October 31, 2021.
“MRH is committed to leveling this property as soon as possible now that we can continue moving forward with work. We are sorry for the delay as we know that the building is an eyesore and troublesome in the neighborhood and community,” said Andy Daniels, MRH CEO.
