- Stay calm and act quickly
- Call 911 and provide clear details about the location and emergency
- Offer basic first aid if trained, but avoid moving injured individuals unless necessary
- Keep yourself safe and reassure others
- Follow instructions from emergency responders when they arrive
1. How soon will an ambulance arrive?
The arrival time of an ambulance depends on several factors, such as location, traffic conditions, and the urgency of the situation. Typically, emergency medical services aim to respond within 8-15 minutes for critical emergencies. In rural areas, it may take a bit longer, but rest assured, EMS teams work quickly to reach you.
2. What kind of medical emergencies do you handle?
We handle a wide range of medical emergencies, including but not limited to:
- Heart attacks and chest pain
- Strokes
- Breathing difficulties
- Severe bleeding or trauma from accidents
- Seizures
- Unconsciousness
- Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
- Serious falls or fractures
3. What should I do if I’m unsure about needing an ambulance?
If you’re uncertain about whether to call an ambulance, it’s always better to be cautious.
Call 911 and explain the situation to the operator, who can help assess whether an ambulance is necessary.
It’s better to be safe than to delay care in a potential emergency.
Our EMS staff and Emergency Department staff work closely together to provide a continuum of care from the field to the emergency department. When not answering 911 calls, our teams work in the emergency department to help provide our patients with quality patient-centered care.
