Unsung Hero: Staci Byers

Meet Staci!

Staci’s journey in healthcare began with her passion for helping others and her belief in the importance of proactive healthcare. She finds fulfillment in making a positive impact on her patients’ lives, helping them stay healthy and manage chronic conditions. Staci’s heart has always been especially with older adults and babies; she cherishes the connection she still gets to make with these age groups, describing them both as feisty and full of spirit.

“The entire time that I’ve been in healthcare, I love that I’ve been able to support families as they bring babies into the world and help bring comfort to individuals and families at end of life—it’s the full gamut of life and death.”

Having worked at MRH for a total of 14 years, Staci’s experience is vast and varied. She first joined in 2009, left for a brief period to work in Vernal, UT, doing Labor and Delivery, and returned in 2018. She jokes that it feels like she never left.

As a Wellness Nurse, Staci’s primary role is conducting annual wellness visits for Medicare Part B beneficiaries. She assesses patients’ health status, including their medical history and current medications, and administers health risk assessments to identify potential issues. From there, Staci develops personalized wellness plans that include recommendations for preventive care, lifestyle changes, or screenings. She also collaborates with patients and their providers to determine if they would benefit from chronic care management, offering ongoing “health coaching” and support. Staci also temporarily assists with Personal Emergency Response System enrollments and installations, collaborates with the Population Health team, and demonstrates the importance of team-based care.

Outside of work, Staci enjoys the great outdoors—camping, RZR riding, paddle boarding, and snowmobiling. She also loves reading and the candle-making shop in the mall, Simply Joy Melts, where she creates fun-looking, yummy-smelling candle creations.

Born in Nashville, Arkansas, Staci moved to Craig in 1993. She has three children: her son Sean and daughter-in-law Karli, daughter McKenzie, and son Isaac.

Staci, you truly embody the spirit of an Unsung Hero, making a lasting impact on everyone you meet – thank you!
