Unsung Hero: Sherri Appold

Meet Sherri!

Sherri Appold is Memorial Regional Health’s Controller. She manages our organization’s financial health and leads the Accounting Department.

“I’ve always had a love for accounting,” Sherri said. “I like the number-crunching and data. Plus, in my role I get to see the whole financial picture. I enjoy putting the puzzle pieces together every month. And MRH is financially doing well, so that makes the work even more enjoyable.”

But what Sherri appreciates most about her job are the colleagues she gets to work alongside. “I’ve been blessed to work with some amazing people here at MRH,” she said. “They are genuine and wholesome people—very similar to what I grew up with in the rural farming community in Michigan.”

The coworker who nominated Sherri as an MRH Unsung Hero recognized this capacity to work with others. “As a leader, she demonstrates a rare combination of patience, collaboration, and a strong work ethic that makes her a true asset to our organization. Her leadership style fosters a supportive and positive team environment, and her patience when training others is remarkable. What sets her apart from others is her willingness to get into the details and do the work alongside her team. She’s not afraid to tackle a challenging project or learn something new herself. Her colleagues love working with her because of her positive attitude, approachable demeanor, and ability to build strong relationships across the team.”

Sherri has been with MRH since 2014 with the exception of a two-year hiatus during which she returned to Michigan to lend support to a family member. She has two adult children and a new grandbaby back in Michigan, but she and her fiancé, Troy, love living in the Colorado mountains and enjoy camping, hiking 14ers, snow machining, and attending Nuggets and Rockies games.

Sherri and Troy have also taken up pickleball and have even begun traveling to pickleball tournaments throughout the west. “It’s a great way to get in some pickleball and visit some new places at the same time,” she said.

Thank you, Sherri, for your dedicated service to MRH and for fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork. We’re lucky to have you.
