EMS Service Operations Analysis
Memorial Regional Health has taken an intense look at the financials of the EMS department, based on the following figures from 2019:
EMS Accounts Payable 2019: $1,116,322.00
EMS Accounts Receivable 2019: $361,698.87
Total 2019 Cash Loss for EMS: $754,623.13
In addition to analyzing financials, the MRH board will appoint a working group to further study the operational side of the EMS department. The goal of this working group is to find ways to increase efficiency and make recommendations to MRH management moving forward.
Starting in May 2020, MRH will begin a strategic partnership with CarePoint Health aimed at expanding the high-quality emergency care services available to the residents of Moffat County and surrounding areas. CarePoint Health brings an unparalleled level of board-certified medical professionals to the region with the mission to deliver advanced, high-quality emergency care. Partnering with the existing MRH team, the four additional CarePoint Health physicians will be intermittently staffing the emergency department at MRH through April, with full-time, 24-hour staffing starting in May 2020.
Open Heart Advocates Action Item
The option to suspend funding for Open Heart Advocates was proposed to the MRH board. The nonprofit has been supported solely by MRH since May 2018, providing stability to the then 40-year-old organization. In light of recent financial restructuring, MRH will be suspending this support, a change which will take place at the end of March. OHA resources and advocates will be available through April 25, 2020, then individuals in crisis will be redirected to other local community resources.
