Orthopaedic Services Offered in Craig
In an active community like Craig, you can’t let an injury or aches and pains get you down. You want to get back to living the active lifestyle you love, and we want to help get you there. Our partnership with SOSI allows for fellowship-trained and highly experienced providers to offer quality orthopaedic care to Moffat County residents — right here at MRH.
Specialty areas include sports medicine, shoulder and elbow surgery, foot and ankle surgery, spine surgery, hand and elbow surgery, total joint replacement, shoulder arthroplasty, physical medicine and rehabilitation, non-operative spine care and EMG and global orthopaedic assessments. With some overlap on specialties among the SOSI team, patients can find a provider who best fits their specific needs.
World-Class, Specialized Spine Care
Sports with the highest risk of spinal injuries include football, diving, skiing, snowboarding, wrestling, ice hockey, rugby and cheerleading. Access to immediate, comprehensive spine care is essential. SOSI providers offer non-operative and surgical spine care in Moffat County with the goal to help patients return to their previous functional status and to improve their quality of life.
Hand and Elbow Treatments
Upper extremity functioning is necessary for individuals in our community with active lifestyles. Wrist and hand fractures, carpal tunnel syndrome, thumb arthritis, trigger finger and lumps and bumps of the hands and wrists can be treated in Craig. Surgery and non-operative treatments are available.
Joint Replacement Surgery
Knee and hip joint replacements are the most common operations performed by SOSI surgeons. Most joint replacements are caused by previous injuries and surgeries as well as degeneration of a joint over time. The goal is to alleviate any pain the patient is feeling as much as possible.
“Our goal is to provide one destination for all of your musculoskeletal needs.”
— Dr. Alexander Meininger
Shoulder and Elbow
Shoulder injuries can vary from clavicle fractures and shoulder dislocations to rotator cuff and arthritic issues. Non-operative treatments as well as surgery are available locally for patients experiencing pain in these areas.
Sports Medicine and Knee Injuries
Though all orthopaedic providers can treat sports-related injuries, sports medicine specialists are uniquely trained in the subject matter. They learn to thoroughly understand these types of injuries and offer specialized expertise on how to care for them in the most minimally invasive ways. Several providers from SOSI have experience working with athletes, with a few providing care for teams and athletes in the National Football League, National Hockey League, Olympics, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team, Women’s National Basketball Association and more.
Knee injuries are common in our community and are often correlated with a cartilage defect or tear. Our knee specialist performs more than 500 knee surgeries per year — about 150 of those are ACL repairs.
