Medicaid Recipients: Benefits Changes Coming

Don’t miss any updates from Memorial Regional Health by signing up for our every-other-month Living Well newsletter here.

Colorado’s Medicaid program is called Health First Colorado (HFC). In Moffat County, 34% of residents are covered by HFC and its sister program for children and pregnant women, Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+).

During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE), some households with higher incomes qualified for HFC. In addition, members were automatically reenrolled annually.

Now, HFC recipients must reapply and requalify
once a year. And the income eligibility threshold has dropped back to 100% of the federal poverty level, though income ceilings are higher for CHP+ eligibility.

What to do

  • Be sure HFC has your current phone number, email and mailing address. Visit Colorado.gov/ peak or use the HFC app to update your account information. Or contact Moffat County Department of Human Services at 970-824-8282.
  • Know your renewal month. This is your reapplication deadline. Visit Colorado.gov/peak or use the HFC app to view your account information. Or contact DHS at 970-824-8282.
  • When you receive your HFC renewal packet in the mail, fill it out and return it immediately. Memorial Regional Health has found the paper process most reliable, but you may complete your renewal application at Colorado.gov/peak or on the HFC app. Note that all HFC applications are also automatically considered for CHP+.
  • If you are deemed ineligible for HFC, enroll for subsidized healthcare coverage through Connect for Health Colorado, connectforhealthco.com.
  • Call MRH’s Care Coordinator at 970-826-8011 for assistance with HFC applications or renewals, or with Connect for Health Colorado enrollment.
